Corinthians visit Botafogo on Sunday at 16:00 at Estádio Nilton Santos in round 16 of the Brasileirão. Fernando Diniz will be without midfielder Zakaria Labyad, who has pain in his right knee and did not travel, staying in São Paulo to begin treatment, according to Meu Timao.
The 33-year-old, a 2026 signing, was unveiled on 22 February but did not debut until March as he had not played since November 2025 with Dalian Yingbo in China. Out of contract after that spell, he underwent a tailored pre-season. He joined on a free and signed to December 2026, with an option of one further year based on targets.
Labyad made his Corinthians debut on 11 March 2026. He came off the bench in a 2-0 home defeat to Coritiba at Neo Química Arena in the league.
Since then he has made nine further appearances, with five wins, one draw and four defeats. He registered an assist in the 2-1 loss to Mirassol on three May, setting up youngster Dieguinho.
Limited under Dorival Júnior, he featured more after Diniz arrived in early April. Under the new coach he appeared in seven of the 11 matches, all as a substitute.
He now joins João Pedro Tchoca, Hugo Farias, Kayke and Vitinho in the treatment room. Meanwhile, Charles and Memphis Depay have recovered and started physical transition, but are not yet ready to play.
