Nicolo Zaniolo once again addressed the controversial episode that saw him at the center of a brawl with select players of Roma’s U19 team.

The Italian striker shared a long message on Instagram stories in which he wanted to clarify his position.

“In recent days I have been heard by the Federal Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné, whom I would like to thank for giving me the opportunity to clarify, I hope definitively, my position. Obviously I cannot go into the merits of the explanations I have provided regarding the dynamics of the events, which I believe to be conclusive.

I reiterate that I have not committed aggressive or violent acts against anyone, but that I have been the target of unjustified insults and provocations by some members of AS Roma; nevertheless, I recognize that I have not reacted in the most appropriate way with respect to the role and experience that belong to me.

I have always believed in the values ​​of sport and in the importance of providing young people with positive role models: I am sorry for having failed in this responsibility and I promise to treasure this unpleasant experience for the future.

However, I would like to reiterate, once again, the affection and gratitude that will always bind me to AS Roma and to anyone who wears its shirt, regardless of a disagreement that I personally believe has been overcome.”
