Graeme Bailey’s report (TBR Football) has revealed an interesting twist. Jose Mourinho, who is often linked to English football, was considering the managerial situation at West Ham United. Reports revealed that he was open to a return to England, but he decided not to wait.
Instead, he accepted an offer from SL Benfica, where he will challenge his old rivals, FC Porto. With Porto, Mourinho won the UEFA Champions League in 2004, an achievement that puts him among Europe’s top managers.
His recent stint at Fenerbahce ended without a trophy, and the club terminated his contract. The 62-year-old manager immediately began exploring new options, and now, with Benfica, he has returned to the Portuguese spotlight. This move has once again brought his career into sharp focus.

Meanwhile, all eyes are now on West Ham United. The club has had a disastrous start to the Premier League season under Graham Potter, with just three points from four games. Consequently, the board and fans are losing confidence. On the one hand, some are advocating for Potter to be given time off so that the team can find long-term stability.
On the other hand, many believe that the current results are unacceptable for a major club. There is also talk that the club has already compiled a shortlist. It includes names like Slaven Bilic, Gary O’Neil, and Nuno Espirito Santo.
Bilic’s return has strong fan support, and O’Neil has had a long-standing association with the club, while reports suggest that former Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo himself has expressed a desire to return to West Ham. Meanwhile, the good news is that Lukasz Fabianski has returned to West Ham, providing relief in the goalkeeping department. The question now is what decision the club will take: take a risk by backing Potter or give a chance to a newcomer. We think that the Hammers need to find a replacement for Potter if they need to salvage the season.
