There is no doubt that FC Barcelona have had an amazing 2024-25 season, and the Blaugrana frontline played a key role in helping their team enjoy all the success that it did this season.
Still, the Catalans are looking to reinforce this attacking line, as they want to bring in another winger who would allow Hansi Flick to regularly rest or rotate his fixed starters on the wings, i.e., Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
In this regard, they have been linked with several high-profile names, including the Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and the AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.
However, one name that has been linked with the Blaugranes for quite some time now, and still remains associated with them, is Nico Williams, the Athletic Club winger who remained very closely linked with Barcelona in the last summer transfer window, but who ultimately decided to continue with his current club.
Now, as the 2025 summer transfer window approaches nearer, SPORT reports that the Spanish winger could be a target for Barcelona once again. This would make sense as Deco wants a winger for his team, and Nico meets the requirements perfectly.
The Blaugranes are particularly looking for a player who can operate on the left wing, and thus would be another forward who occupies the defenders. Raphinha tends to move centrally, and the wing is left for Balde or Gerard Martin to take this season.
But Nico would be a great addition for this purpose, as he remains closer to the byline and beats defenders with his speed and dribbling. Furthermore, he is already friends with some of his teammates in the Spanish national team, most notably Yamal and Balde. Furthermore, his contract still has a very affordable release clause of €58 million.

However, the €70 million-rated Spanish winger will also be attracted to remain at Athletic Club, where his brother, Inaki Williams, is expected to be the captain from the next season, and he will also get to play in the Champions League with his boyhood club.
Thus, although Laporta highlighted that his club is looking at other targets, Nico Williams is too good a fit to miss out on, and the player himself will have to make a big decision about his future.
