Valencia are working at the Paterna training ground ahead of Sunday’s trip to Athletic Club in San Mames. According to as.com, Lucas Beltrán continues to train separately with knee discomfort and his place in the travelling squad is uncertain. He missed the last LaLiga match against Atlético de Madrid.

The boost is Julen Agirrezabala, who is in the final stage of his recovery and could return to a squad before the season ends. He is completing most on-pitch work with team-mates and the signs are positive.

Agirrezabala joined last summer on loan from Athletic Club. He arrived with the tough task of succeeding Mamardashvili and to compete with Dimitrievski for the number one spot. Corberán entrusted him with the role from the opening day.

The Basque goalkeeper started the first 18 LaLiga matches, conceding 30 goals and keeping four clean sheets. He suffered his injury in a defensive action during the 3 January match against Celta de Vigo at Balaídos and then underwent surgery. Since then, Dimitrievski has played 16 league games, conceding 20.

Sunday’s visit to San Mames is a special one for Agirrezabala, who would face players who will again be his team-mates when the season ends. His inclusion for the Bilbao trip is almost ruled out, but the goalkeeper wants to say goodbye to Valencia on the pitch and has four matches left to do it.
