Admar Lopes criticised the performance of referee Lucas Paulo Torezin after Vasco’s 3-3 draw with Cruzeiro at the Mineirão on Sunday, calling the officiating unacceptable.
He alleged a tendency to favour the home side when Torezin handles Vasco away from home and highlighted three decisions, a potential red card for a studs-up challenge on Tchê Tchê that did not go to VAR, and penalty shouts involving Robert Renan and Andrés Gómez. According to Globo.com, he also labelled the display shameful.
Tempers spilled into the tunnel to the dressing rooms, where club president Pedrinho argued with Torezin. A police officer deployed pepper spray to defuse the situation.
The spray drifted into the mixed zone used by journalists and players, and Pedrinho had to be restrained by Vasco security.
The incident with Tchê Tchê came late in the first half when William caught the midfielder with his studs. The disputed penalties were in the first period, a shove on Andrés Gómez and a pull on Robert Renan.
In his press conference, head coach Renato Gaúcho said he did not think the refereeing was bad, though he felt the 10 minutes of added time was excessive and that nothing had harmed Vasco.
