Barcelona are closing in on another significant piece of summer business, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s move to Ajax progressing steadily towards completion.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ajax are prepared to assume a sizeable portion of the Barcelona goalkeeper’s salary as part of the agreement, removing one of the biggest obstacles in negotiations between the two clubs.

The Marc-Andre ter Stegen Ajax transfer is now considered to be in its final stages, with all parties optimistic that a deal can be completed in the coming days.

While the precise percentage of wages Ajax will cover has not yet been revealed, the Eredivisie side’s willingness to shoulder a significant financial burden has accelerated discussions.

Tter Stegen Ajax loan deal nearing completion

The Marc-Andre ter Stegen loan move to Ajax has gathered momentum over recent weeks, and Barcelona are now hopeful of finalising the agreement shortly.

Ajax are expected to sign the German international on a one-year loan deal, allowing the goalkeeper to regain rhythm and continuity after a difficult period marked by injury setbacks.

Although negotiations have advanced positively, several details still need to be incorporated into the final contracts before the operation can be officially completed.

On that note, the player’s approval remains an important factor.

Ter Stegen must be fully satisfied with the financial conditions attached to the move, particularly regarding salary arrangements and the tax implications associated with spending a season in the Netherlands.

Nevertheless, confidence is growing that a full agreement will soon be reached.

Reports suggest the Barcelona goalkeeper is already preparing to travel to Amsterdam next week, where he is expected to undergo medical examinations and complete the final formalities related to his transfer.

Despite the progress made in negotiations, the Marc-Andre ter Stegen Ajax deal remains dependent on one crucial element: the goalkeeper’s physical condition.

The German shot-stopper is currently in Barcelona attending to personal matters and continues his rehabilitation programme at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

Barcelona’s medical department is closely monitoring his recovery process following the serious hamstring injury he suffered while on loan at Girona.

The injury required surgery and ultimately forced Ter Stegen to miss the World Cup, representing a major setback in his season.

Ajax, on their part, are naturally expected to conduct their own assessment before formally approving the loan agreement, which will take place early next week.
