Asharq Al-Awsat reports that Al Ahli have finalised a deal to sign Abdullah Radif on a free transfer, seeing off Al Diriyah, with confirmation expected shortly. The move comes amid supporter dismay at Matthias Jaissle’s departure.
Once paperwork is completed, the 23-year-old former Al Hilal striker will sign a four-year contract running to 2030.
Radif had initially agreed to join Al Ahli before newly promoted Al Diriyah attempted to hijack the move, which Al Ahli ultimately repelled.
On seven July, Al Hilal confirmed his exit, five years after his promotion to the first team, a period that included loans to Al-Taawoun, Al-Shabab, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Feiha.
He had also agreed a three-season switch to Al-Ittihad worth 27 million riyals, 9 million per season, before the club withdrew due to a lack of financial liquidity.
Radif is expected to be Al Ahli’s third striker, competing with Brazilian Ricardo Matias, behind Englishman Ivan Toney and Saudi Firas Al-Buraikan. He would be their sixth summer addition after Aboubakar Sidi Kinte, Francisco Trincao, Eduard Spertsyan, Meshaal Al-Mutairi and Nayef Masoud.
His most recent spell was at Al-Feiha in the second half of last season, where he featured in eight matches, provided two assists and scored no goals.
