Álex Jiménez, the 20-year-old Bournemouth full-back, has emerged as one of the season’s standouts in the Premier League, putting his name into early Spain contention ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

According to Superdeporte, his impact under Andoni Iraola has lifted his status, with the club turning his initial loan into a permanent move for a fee in the region of 20-25 million euros after several strong months.

Jiménez came through Real Madrid’s academy before switching to AC Milan. He impressed in the Youth League by reaching the Final Four, then graduated to the first team, making 34 appearances prior to leaving San Siro. England has since provided the platform he sought after his Italian stint.

Primarily a right-back, the Madrid-born defender is comfortable on the left and can operate higher up the pitch, offering tactical variety that has enhanced his value this season.

Spain’s right-back picture adds intrigue. Long-time starter Dani Carvajal has been managing fitness issues and is still chasing peak rhythm, while Pedro Porro’s campaign has been uneven in a Tottenham side struggling for stability in the Premier League. Jiménez’s rise has therefore prompted debate over a potential call-up.
