The 2025 Ballon d’Or awards were held on Monday night in Paris, as football’s best were celebrated.
We’ve run through all the award winners after a memorable night in the French capital.
Ousmane Dembele beat Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal and PSG teammate Vitinha to the Men’s Ballon d’Or. The 28-year-old was recognised for a career-best campaign, in which he scored 35 goals as PSG claimed a quadruple, including a maiden Champions League win.
Aitana Bonmatí earned the Women’s Ballon d’Or, securing the prize for a third consecutive year. The Spaniard also now holds the record outright for most Ballon d’Or Fémenin wins (3).
After just missing out on becoming the youngest-ever Ballon d’Or winner with a second-placed finish, Yamal did go home with the Kopa Trophy.
Awarded to the best U-21 player in world football, the 18-year-old becomes the first-ever two-time winner of the award after also claiming last season’s accolade.
The 19-year-old helped Barcelona to a domestic double and was also part of the Spain squad that reached the European Championship final. Lopez added the Kopa Trophy to her Golden Girl award won in 2024.
A man-mountain as PSG claimed a domestic treble and Champions League success, Donnarumma won the Yashin Trophy for a second time. He’s only the second goalkeeper to win multiple Yashin awards, after Emiliano Martinez.
Hannah Hampton claimed the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy. Having dislodged Mary Earps as England’s number one, Hampton starred as the Lionesses beat Spain 3-1 on penalties to win the European Championship. The Chelsea goalkeeper saved two of Spain’s efforts in the shootout.
Viktor Gyokeres won the Gerd Muller trophy after a prolific season for Sporting Lisbon. The Swedish striker, who joined Arsenal in the summer, netted 63 goals for club and country in 2024/25.
Ewa Pajor won the Women’s equivalent, formerly known as the Striker of the Year or Best Striker Award. The Pole plundered 43 goals in 2024/25 to top the rankings.
Paris Saint-Germain were deserved winners of the Men’s Club of the Year. The French and European champions had nine players in the final 30 of the Ballon d’Or vote, including winner Dembele and third-place Vitinha.
Arsenal claimed the Women’s award following their Champions League triumph. The Gunners became the first English team in 18 years to win the trophy. Seven of their squad were nominated for the Ballon d’Or Fémenin, with both Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo on the podium.
Having guided PSG to an elusive European triumph and domestic treble, Luis Enrique was recognised with the Men’s Coach of the Year prize. It was fully merited, having finally scratched PSG’s European itch despite the departure of record scorer Kylian Mbappe.
Sarina Wiegman won the Women’s Coach of the Year after masterminding England’s success at the European Championship. It was the second time she had guided England to European glory after also achieving the feat in 2022.
