Ally McCoist has been speaking about Cole Palmer and believes his long term future will be at Chelsea despite links with a move away.

Palmer has been nothing short of sensational since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, and was named Premier League Young Player of The Year after a record breaking 2023/2024 campaign.

The 22-year-old started this campaign on the front foot and has 14 goals and seven assists, although he’s currently experiencing a dip in form.

Palmer hasn’t scored since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in January, whilst he registered his first assist of 2025 in the win against Tottenham earlier this month.

Enzo Maresca has spoken on why he believes Palmer has struggled recently, and the Blues could really do with him finding form over the final few games of the season.

The England international is still Chelsea’s top scorer this season, but Frank Leboeuf has suggested the Blues could sell him if a big offer came in.

There’s been question marks surrounding Palmer’s future, and he’s previously been linked with Real Madrid, but McCoist has claimed he sees his long term future at Chelsea.

“Cole Palmer’s form has dipped a little bit,” he told talkSPORT.

“Will his long-term future be at Chelsea? I would think yes. Has he got the ability to move to another club with the same stature and hopes as Chelsea to continue to win things? Absolutely.

“Great players like that always attract attention, and he’s a great player. Very, very talented boy, I think… If you’re asking me what I think will happen, I think he’ll stay at Chelsea.”

Palmer signed a new two year extension last year meaning he’s under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033, which makes it difficult for him to leave unless he makes it clear he wants a move.

The attacker will have a key role to play in the run-in with Chelsea facing some tough fixtures as they look to qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League.
