América reject four bids for Brian Rodríguez as Cruzeiro move collapses | OneFootball

América have turned down four bids for Brian Rodríguez in the past year. The latest and largest, from Cruzeiro, was also rejected.

According to Americayya.net, the Brazilian Serie A club offered 10 million dollars plus two in add-ons for the 26-year-old Uruguay international. It later indicated on social media that negotiations would not continue.

A little over a year ago, Inter Miami lodged an eight million dollar bid. Rodríguez has said Luis Suárez called to persuade him to join the MLS side, but América’s hierarchy rejected the proposal.

Peñarol then proposed a loan, arguing the move could boost his value for a future sale, but that idea was dismissed.

In the last window, Al Rayaan of Qatar came in with a 10 million dollar offer and a salary above his América deal, yet the club still refused.

Further approaches will likely keep coming, although a higher fee appears unlikely, perhaps only a club from Arabia could offer more. It is thought América want 15 million dollars, so if that figure is met, a sale would be likely.
