André Luiz struck twice in Corinthians’ 3-1 win at Grêmio, moving into second in the club’s 2026 scoring list behind Yuri Alberto.
According to Meu Timao, the midfielder now has five goals in 29 appearances this year, with Yuri Alberto on six from 29.
His first, in the opening half, came from a move down the left. Matheus Bidu’s cross was only half-cleared, Yuri Alberto cushioned the ball and André Luiz drilled into the right-hand corner from the edge of the box.
On 19 minutes of the second half, Rodrigo Garro found him after a patient build-up. André exchanged passes with Yuri, burst into the area and finished past goalkeeper Beltrame to complete the turnaround.
Aged 19, André Luiz is emerging as one of Corinthians’ most valuable assets and could attract interest from Europe in the mid-year window. The club have acknowledged they may sell players to balance the books, and an offer from Milan earlier this season was rejected.
The result lifted Corinthians to 24 points and ninth place, inside the 2027 Sudamericana berths, overtaking Grêmio, Internacional, Atlético-MG, Vitória, Botafogo and Cruzeiro. Fernando Diniz’s side now pause for the World Cup break, facing Cascavel in a friendly on 12 July in Paraná before resuming competitively against Remo on 22 July at Neo Química Arena.
