André Luiz struck twice in Corinthians’ 3-1 win at Grêmio in Porto Alegre on Saturday in the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, moving second in the club’s 2026 scoring behind Yuri Alberto.

The 19-year-old now has five goals in 29 appearances this year, trailing Yuri Alberto on six from 29. According to Meu Timao, he is viewed as one of the club’s most valuable assets and could draw European interest in the mid-year window.

His first came in the opening half from a left-side move. Matheus Bidu’s cross was only half-cleared, Yuri Alberto laid it off first time and André drove into the right corner to level.

On 19 minutes of the second period, Rodrigo Garro picked him out after a patient build-up from the back. André exchanged passes with Yuri, burst into the box and slotted into the right corner past goalkeeper Beltrame to complete the turnaround.

The result lifts Corinthians to 24 points, up to ninth and into the 2027 Sudamericana qualifying places, overtaking rivals including Grêmio, Internacional, Atlético-MG, Vitória, Botafogo and Cruzeiro.

Fernando Diniz’s side now pause for the World Cup break, facing Cascavel in a friendly in Paraná on 12 July. They resume competitive action on 22 July against Remo at Neo Química Arena in the Campeonato Brasileiro, and the club have acknowledged they may sell players to balance finances during the break, while Milan had a bid for André Luiz rejected earlier in the season.
