The Cameroonian has tumbled down the pecking order at Old Trafford

Out-of-favour goalkeeper Andre Onana has agreed a loan move away from Manchester United, according to reports.

Altay Bayindir has generally been preferred between the sticks in early outings, and Ruben Amorim’s squad now features four shot stoppers following the £18m arrival of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Onana, then, is looking to greener pastures in the hope of improving his playing time and, according to Fabrizio Romano, has agreed a loan move to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor.

It is a straight loan deal, with no buy option or loan fee paid. Onana is thought to have been handed a considerable signing-on bonus.

He is expected to travel for a medical next week. The Turkish transfer window closes on September 12, and it is hoped that he can debut on the 14th as Trabzonspor visit rivals Fenerbahce, managed until recently by Jose Mourinho.

Trabzonspor currently sit second in the Super Lig after four matches, trailing Galatasaray by two points as they chase a first title since 2022.

Onana has made just one appearance so far this season, featuring in the now infamous Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby.

Amorim has faced criticism for his goalkeeper selection so far this season, but has been insistent in his defence of Altay Bayindir.

Lammens, 23, will hope to climb the pecking order quickly on arrival at Old Trafford. He could debut immediately after the international break, when United visit cross-town rivals Manchester City.
