After reaching an agreement with Monza for the transfer of Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, Lazio could also send Elseid Hysaj to Lecce.
The 30-year-old joined the Italian capital side in the summer of 2021 based on the request of his longtime mentor Maurizio Sarri. But this season, the experienced full-back found himself omitted from Marco Baroni’s Serie A and Europa League squads, with his only appearance coming in the Coppa Italia victory over his former club Napoli. Therefore, the player’s exit appears inevitable at this stage.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Lecce have now emerged as a potential destination for the Albania captain. The Salentians are looking to bolster their full-back department, especially the right flank where Frederic Guilbert has failed to shine whereas Andy Pelmard was handed a disciplinary suspension following a DUI incident.
Pedullà thus expects the Giallorossi to make an attempt to sign Hysaj on an initial loan deal. The versatile full-back’s contract with the Biancocelesti runs until June 2026. Despite his exclusion from the squad, he proved he hasn’t skipped a beat in his solitary appearance of the season, putting up a solid showing in the Coppa Italia which undoubtedly encouraged Lecce – and potentially other suitors – to pursue his services.
