In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport stated that Arsenal are facing stiff competition for Club Brugge midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic. It is understood that the Gunners would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the race to land the Serbian talent next year.
Stankovic is having a decent campaign in Belgium as he has produced a string of eye-catching displays at the heart of Club Brugge’s midfield. The 20-year-old has found the back of the net three times and picked up a couple of assists in 30 matches for his current employers this season across various competitions.
The Serbian sensation is currently among the best young midfielders in Belgian football. Hence, it is no surprise that Arsenal are in the running to acquire Stankovic’s services next year.
His current contract at Club Brugge will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap this January or at the end of this season.

Stankovic is a good tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good passer of the ball as well.
The Serbian youngster can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Stankovic is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a centre-back or as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. You might think he has some of the features of Declan Rice but it’s a bit more complicated than that.
We can expect Stankovic to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the North London’s squad.
At 20, Stankovic has got a bright future ahead of him as long as he continues to improve with each season. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League
