Arsenal close to signing Illan Meslier

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of French goalkeeper Illan Meslier according to reports.

Meslier didn't feature at all for Leeds United last season after having joined the club back in 2019 on an initial loan from Lorient.

The shot-stopper eventually became the number one choice at Elland Road, featuring 215 times in total for the club before last season, with the player's last senior appearance for the club coming back in March 2025.

According to journalist James McNicholas of The Athletic, Meslier is now set to join the goalkeeping setup at Arsenal. David Raya is currently the undisputed number one with Kepa Arrizabalaga his understudy – although there are some doubts about the latter's future at the club.

The move could also free up Tommy Setford to go out on loan for first team experience.
