The January transfer window is in its final days and Aston Villa have their sights on a PSG player. Unai Emery and his team are third in the Premier League with 43 points, seven away from league leaders Arsenal (50 points).
As a result, Aston Villa could be looking to make a splash to overcome that deficit and see if they can make it a race for the league title in this second half of the 2025-26 season.
Aston Villa have reached the Europa League round of 16, but Emery has his sights set higher. He wants the team to build on their strong first half of the season, aiming to finish in the Champions League places and potentially win a major trophy.

Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are both pursuing Gonçalo Ramos, according to Duncan Castles. The PSG striker has attracted interest from the two Premier League sides. However, the club is reluctant to sell the 24‑year‑old Portugal international after spending €80 million to sign him.
“Understand that both Aston Villa + Crystal Palace are working to extract Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain,” Castles wrote on Jan. 22. “Both Premier League clubs looking for centre forward [and] Ramos one of multiple options for Villa, including Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta. [However], PSG do not want to sell the Portugal international in this window.”
The 24-year-old Ramos helped PSG win Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season and is under contract with the club until 2028. Moreover, he has scored 43 goals and provided nine assists in 114 appearances for the French side.
