Aston Villa hold talks with Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes | OneFootball

Aston Villa have held talks with Guillaume Restes’ (21) representatives, according to a report from The Athletic. 

The Premier League side are in the market for a successor for Emiliano Martinez this summer and Restes, a France youth international, has emerged as a serious option, The Athletic understands.

Restes is a highly-rated young goalkeeper. The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Toulouse FC for some time, and this summer could be the time when he eventually seals a transfer away from his boyhood club. 

The Frenchman is valued at £20m by Le TéFéCé, who are open to a sale. In order to balance their books, there will have to be outgoings this summer. Charlie Cresswell, a target for Crystal Palace and Stade Rennais, is another potential candidate to leave. 

Aston Villa have held talks with Restes, although they would ideally like to keep Martinez. But whether the Argentine remains at Villa Park depends on whether a reasonable offer is received. Parma’s Zion Suzuki is another player that is being considered by the Premier League club.
