Middlesbrough will be keeping a keen eye on Morgan Rogers' future at Aston Villa due to a sell-on clause
Middlesbrough are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League this season under Kim Hellberg.
The Teesside outfit have fallen just short of a top six finish in the last couple of seasons after coming fourth in the table in 2023, losing in the play-off semi-finals to Coventry City.
The Sky Blues are now their closest rival in the title race this term, with Boro seeking a return to the top flight for the first time since 2017.
A dip in form in recent weeks has brought Millwall and Ipswich Town into the automatic promotion battle, as we approach the final months of the campaign.
Hellberg took charge of the team in November following the sudden departure of Rob Edwards — who had only been appointed in the summer — after he made the move to relegation-threatened Wolves.
Middlesbrough could now swap divisions with the Premier League side, who are set to face the drop to the Championship this season.

It has been reported by Teamtalk that Aston Villa have set a firm asking price of greater than £100 million for the possible sale of Morgan Rogers this summer.
Chelsea are believed to be stepping up their interest in the forward following his standout campaign in the Premier League.
It was previously claimed that Middlesbrough have a significant sell-on fee percentage as part of their deal to sell the 23-year-old.
Rogers spent half a season at the Riverside, where he contributed two goals and six assists from 26 appearances in the Championship before moving to Villa Park in a £15 million deal.
It is understood that the Midlands outfit are keen to keep Rogers beyond the upcoming summer window.
reported that the Europa League side have set a valuation higher than that for the forward.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all seen as genuine admirers of Rogers, but it is Chelsea that are now leading the race for his signature.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign, registering eight goals and five assists from 27 league appearances, with Unai Emery’s side third in the table.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship, four points clear of third place Millwall.
Next up for Hellberg’s side is a trip to face Birmingham City on 2 March in an 8pm kick-off.

A significant sell-on percentage fee for Middlesbrough has the potential to be worth eight figures to the club, if Rogers is sold at this kind of valuation.
The forward has enjoyed an excellent campaign, and Chelsea have shown in the past a willingness to spend this kind of fee to sign a priority target.
A huge windfall like this would be especially beneficial for the Teesside outfit if they are preparing for life in the Premier League next season, as it would boost their finances without needing to sell anyone.
There are no guarantees just yet that Rogers will be sold, and Villa will be keen to keep such an important player, but it would be a huge boost for Boro if it does go through.
