Maurizio Sarri has asked Atalanta to reunite him with Mario Gila, while Napoli are also negotiating for the Lazio defender.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, Atalanta have entered the race and, after a detailed enquiry, lodged a €20 million bid for the 25-year-old, who is highly rated by their new head coach.
Gila has one year left on his contract and no prospect of renewal, so he appears set to leave Formello. He reportedly has an agreement with Napoli on a five-year deal worth €3 million net per season, although the clubs have not reached a deal.
Real Madrid hold a 50% sell-on, prompting president Claudio Lotito to set a €25-30 million valuation. Napoli opened at €15 million and have tried to bridge the gap by adding Lorenzo Lucca to the package, or even Rafa Marin.
Atalanta’s offer sits below Lotito’s price, yet above Napoli’s. It remains to be seen whether La Dea overtake the Partenopei, or if Aurelio De Laurentiis’s club respond by raising their bid in the coming hours.
