Atletico Madrid have emerged as serious admirers of Club Brugge and Serbia midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, but Inter Milan have a buy-back clause that means the Spanish giants face an uphill battle to land the youngster.

According to Matteo Moretto, speaking on Radio Marca, via FCInterNews, Atletico’s directors are “in love with” the qualities of the 2005-born midfielder.

The Spanish club are keeping a close eye on his situation in Belgium.

However, Inter retain an option to repurchase Stankovic, exercisable either this summer or in 2027, giving the Nerazzurri firm control over his future regardless of outside interest.

Stankovic has flourished since leaving the Pinetina, continuing to develop at pace and catching the eye of some of Europe’s most ambitious clubs.

Moretto values his current market price at between €35-40 million, a remarkable figure for a young player, and a testament to how much he has grown during his time in Belgium.

All indications point toward Inter triggering the clause this summer and bringing him back to Milan.
