Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez has fired something of a warning shot to Real Madrid, ahead of this weekend’s highly-anticipated derby.

Frontman Álvarez is for his part fresh off a Man of the Match display on Wednesday night.

Afforded a starting berth in Atlético’s La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano, the Argentine proved himself decisive in a return to winning ways for Diego Simeone’s troops.

En route to a 3-2 Rojiblancos triumph, Álvarez notched all three of his side’s goals, in a spectacular individual outing.

As much proved just the catalyst needed for Atléti to build some momentum, ahead of a crunch showdown with table-topping arch rivals Real Madrid this weekend.

And as alluded to above, speaking to the media in the aftermath of his match-winning exploits on Wednesday, Álvarez sent a crystal clear message to those on the white half of the Madrid divide:

“We will do everything to take the 3 points from Real Madrid.”
