Palmeiras beat Novorizontino 1-0 at Arena Crefisa Barueri in the first leg of the Paulista final, taking a narrow lead. The tie will be settled away at Estádio Jorge Ismael de Biasi.

Globo.com’s ratings highlighted Flaco López and Carlos Miguel as standouts.

Ramón Sosa, starting instead of Vitor Roque due to knocks from the Choque-Rei, flicked on Marlon Freitas’s long pass for Flaco to score on 34 minutes. Four minutes later Flaco teed up Allan, whose drive struck the post. Before the break Andreas Pereira twice lost the ball, Gustavo Gómez fouled Vinícius Paiva and Robson’s 46th-minute penalty was saved by Carlos Miguel.

Early in the second half Khellven forced Jordi into action and Marlon Freitas shot without troubling the keeper, then on six minutes Gómez headed in but VAR ruled offside. Arias and Lucas Evangelista were introduced on 58 and 59 minutes and Arias soon fired just over. Murilo impressed with 94% passing and headed wide deep into stoppage time.

Abel Ferreira’s tweak to start Sosa through the middle paid off, the Paraguayan assisting the winner. Palmeiras managed the contest, albeit with some loose passing and a slower tempo late on. Vitor Roque and Felipe Anderson came on at 69 minutes as Palmeiras saw it out.
