Shooting and quick passing drills were on the agenda for the 25 players involved in an open training session in summer temperatures on Thursday.
Over 1,000 fans were in attendance as the Eagles continued their intensive preparations for the upcoming trip to VfL Wolfsburg. In addition to Nnamdi Collins, Rasmus Kristensen and Kaua Santos, who are all still working on their recoveries from injury, Ritsu Doan was absent on Thursday due to illness.
There was some positive news too, however, with Jean-Mattéo Bahoya back in action after sustaining a thigh injury in the game against Mainz prior to the international break. Last week, head coach Albert Riera said that the attacker was close to making a comeback, but that he “didn’t want to take any risks” with him this weekend, with an eye on the season run-in.
A total of 22 outfield players plus three goalkeepers - including U21 netminder Yurij Obert - took part in the session, which focused on passing, movement and shooting.
The open session offered little in the way of tactical clues, with those set to come in Friday afternoon’s final training. The Eagles squad will travel to Wolfsburg straight after Riera’s press conference that day, with kick-off on Saturday scheduled for 15:30 CEST. And as was the case at training, Eintracht won’t be short of supporters cheering them on.
