Barcelona have been actively exploring options to strengthen their wide attacking areas, but one of their more surprising targets now appears out of reach.

The player in question is Victor Munoz, a former Real Madrid youth product currently impressing at Osasuna.

His performances this season have put him on Barcelona’s radar, with the club viewing him as a potential addition to add depth and dynamism out wide.

However, the situation has become complicated both from a sporting and financial perspective.

What’s the story?

According to an update from El Debate, Munoz himself is not open to the move.

His background with Real Madrid plays a decisive role here, with the player unwilling to cross the divide and join Barcelona

That situation alone significantly weakens any potential negotiation, effectively shutting the door before talks can even properly begin.

Beyond the player’s position, there is also a strategy from Real Madrid that further complicates matters.

As such, Los Blancos are already planning to bring Munoz back this summer for a fee of around €8 million.

Financial constraints

Even if that plan does not materialise, Madrid still hold a major advantage in any future transfer scenario.

Due to prior agreements, they are entitled to 50% of any profit Osasuna make from a potential sale.

With Munoz’s release clause set at €40 million, that creates a direct financial link between Barcelona and their biggest rivals.

In simple terms, if Barcelona were to activate the clause, €20 million would effectively go straight into Real Madrid’s accounts.

Osasuna, for their part, are in no rush to sell. The club value Munoz highly and have no intention of negotiating below the release clause.

When all factors are considered, between the player’s reluctance, Real Madrid’s financial involvement, and Osasuna’s position, Barcelona’s pursuit looks unlikely to progress any further.
