The home crowd in attendance at La Liga giants Barcelona’s midweek meeting with Paris Saint-Germain have seen the level of their support called into serious question.
This comes amid claims stemming from the clash that the small contingent of visiting fans were consistently louder than their Blaugrana conterparts.
Barcelona of course marked their return to action on the continent on Wednesday night.
As much came by way of a Champions League showdown with tournament holders PSG in Catalunya’s capital.
When all was said and done in the fixture, it was the latter who emerged deserved victors, by two goals to one.
And as alluded to above, along the way, many, including some of Barcelona’s players, were left feeling as though the hosts lost the battle in the stands, too.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Some 3,000 French fans filled the visitors’ area of the Estadi Olímpic to cheer on Luis Enrique’s team. This was despite the capacity limit of 50,000. However, it turned out that the PSG players felt the support of their fans even more. Chants silenced the Estadi.’
