Barcelona have almost finalized a new deal for Hansi Flick – Report | OneFootball

The ongoing season for FC Barcelona, led by Hansi Flick, is one that has the potential to be a historic one. For La Blaugrana, their goal is to now compete for every single remaining title this season. Most recently, however, Barcelona have managed to triumph in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.

A tense affair, it was a clash between two sides that simply did not want to lose that game. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid desperately wanted the title, but it was the Catalan side that ultimately ended up taking the title with a 3-2 win.

With that victory, it is now clear to see that Hansi Flick’s first season at Barcelona is already a success. While the objective is to aim for both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League as well, it is already clear to see the impact that he has had and the mentality that he has injected into this team.

As such, it only makes sense for the club to consider his possible future with Barcelona as well. In fact, Barça seems to have already taken a big step forward in that regard as they look to tie down Flick to the Catalan club for at least another year, given that important figures at the club have undeniably been impressed with him throughout this season.

According to the information provided by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are currently at an advanced stage in terms of finalizing Flick’s renewal. Moreover, the deal itself would see the German coach extend his contract by another year to keep him at the club until 2027.

It was already clear that Flick is not the kind of coach to haphazardly extend his contract for multiple seasons at once. Instead, he has always reportedly preferred taking things one step at a time, and his objective for now is to end this season on the best note possible.

As it stands, however, his agent and Barcelona president Joan Laporta have already met regularly to discuss his renewal. Now, after a good amount of talking and negotiating, all involved parties have reached this advanced stage where the contract is just being finalized.

The report suggests that it could be finalized in totality by the second week of May. However, to avoid it having any kind of negative impact on the season itself, Barcelona will wait until the end of the ongoing campaign to announce Flick’s new deal.

It would then extend his contract from 2026 to 2027, and will also provide a salary increase to Hansi Flick and his coaching staff. At the moment, MD suggests that the deal is practically done and it is now a matter of when and not if the deal is eventually signed.
