It has been yet another difficult season for Andreas Christensen at FC Barcelona, with injuries hampering him at every step of the way.
Having made only 17 appearances, the 30-year-old defender has been out of action since December due to a ligament tear.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Barcelona have presented him with a short-term extension, albeit with a reduced salary.
Now, according to journalist Sique Rodriguez on Cadena SER, Christensen is likely to accept the offer presented to him by Barcelona.
The Danish international is understood to have been back in training recently, and those within the club believe that he still can offer a lot in terms of quality and experience on the field if he manages to stay fit.

As such, Barça have offered him a one-year renewal with a lower salary and high financial incentives based on the number of matches he plays.
So far, there had been no response from Christensen’s camp regarding the renewal. However, as per the update now, he could end up accepting the proposal.
The former Chelsea star’s family is happy and settled in the Catalan capital, and the player himself feels very comfortable at the club.
As such, if he does not receive a very lucrative offer from elsewhere, Christensen is expected to stay at Barcelona and sign a new short-term contract.
Signed from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 as a free agent, the Dane was a key part of the team that won the La Liga title in his debut campaign.
Since then, however, injuries have prevented him from establishing himself as a regular in the team. In total, he has played 97 times for Barcelona, even chipping in with five goals.
