Barcelona not concerned by possible PSG move for Ferran Torres | OneFootball

Barcelona have entered the final 30 days of the window without a back-up for Robert Lewandowski, yet the club are not concerned by talk of PSG moving for Ferran Torres, according to El Periódico Mediterráneo.

Hansi Flick is confident in internal options for the No 9 role. Ferran and Dani Olmo are available, Hamza Abdelkarim offers promise, and new arrivals Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi are viewed as capable through the middle.

Barcelona have neither been informed of PSG interest in Ferran nor received any indication from the player that he wishes to leave. He is under contract until 2027 and the club intend to extend it given his role and output. The player can take his time, since in December he would be free to negotiate with other clubs, and Barcelona still need a proven centre forward.

Flick wants, and expects, Ferran to stay but will wait to see what unfolds. He has chosen not to contact the forward in order to respect his holidays and will assess matters when the Spain internationals report on 12. He feels less settled up front than in other areas.

Four academy defenders debuted in official competition under Flick, and all four positions across the back line are already doubled. Eric Garcia has operated at right-back alongside Jules Kounde, and the return of João Cancelo has been arranged to share left-back with Alejandro Balde.

After Héctor Fort’s loan to Elche and Jofre Torrents’ injury in the second half of last season, Xavi Espart and Álvaro Cortés also featured. Espart, 19, made five appearances at right-back although he is a holding midfielder by trade, and he was named in UEFA’s team of the tournament after Spain won the under-19 European title this summer. Speaking in Birmingham on Sunday, he said he would play wherever required to earn a first-team place.
