The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are lining up a contract extension for a member of the club’s midfield ranks.

This comes amid the understanding that negotiations are being prepared with the entourage of Marc Casadó.

Youngster Casadó is for his part in the midst of something of a hit-and-miss campaign to date.

Despite the ongoing injury problems at the heart of Barcelona’s midfield, the Spanish international has struggled for consistent minutes.

With Marc Bernal now nearing full fitness once more, and Gavi inching towards his return, Casadó’s game time could in turn drop yet further over the weeks to come.

Amid mounting interest in his signature from across the continent, it may therefore come as something of a surprise to learn of the Camp Nou board’s latest plans for their midfield starlet.

As per a report from Barca insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:

‘The club intend to renew Casadó’s contract before the end of the current season.’
