Barcelona sporting director Deco has spoken out on the recent claims that youngster Lamine Yamal has demanded status as the club’s highest-paid player.
The name of wide-man Lamine has of course positioned itself centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital once more over recent days.
This comes after reports surfaced in the media, surrounding the ongoing negotiations between the 17-year-old and Barcelona over a new contract.
The speculation proved to be of a concerning nature for those of a Blaugrana persuasion, amid claims that Lamine’s entourage had informed the Camp Nou brass of his desire for a monumental pay rise.
In fact, the Spanish international was said to have appealed for status as the highest-paid member of Hansi Flick’s squad.
Speaking during an interview with RAC1, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday, the subject of as much was therefore put to Barca sporting director Deco.
And the Portuguese was firm in his response, adamant that:
“Lamine Yamal did not ask to be the highest paid player on the team. It’s not true. He just wants to he happy here, that’s what he tells us and his agents too.”
