Barcelona will spring significant changes in their scouting department this summer, with three members of their scouting team moving on, and three more arriving. The Blaugrana are under fresh leadership in that department, after Joao Amaral was named their Chief Scout, taking over from Paulo Araujo.
It seems that Amaral and Sporting Director Deco will be putting their own stamp on the scouting department. Sport say that there will be several members of the scouting team that stay on, with ‘Bruno’ overseeing the region of Brazil and Chechu Rojo scouting players in Segunda and Primera. The latter has been there for some time, but beyond those names, there will be significant changes.
Already it has been announced that Modena Chief Scout Daniele Placido has come in as their new ‘Head of Emerging Talents’, which will see the Italian oversee scouting for players aged 16 to 19. Joining him will be Roger Porta, formerly employed by Real Betis and Getafe, who will be involved in scouting players beyond Spain. Jordi Villazon is also joining Barcelona, who has extensive experience in Catalan football, both at senior and youth level. His last employment was with Hospitalet.
There will also be three exits, headlined by David Fernandez. Relegated Real Oviedo have offered him the chance to shape their attempt to return to La Liga, and he was announced as their sporting director earlier this week. His main duties were in scouting abroad. French scout Jerome Bigot is also moving on after eight years at the club, with a different venture on the horizon. Portuguese scout Pedro Charana has also finished his time at Barcelona, the third departure evening up the numbers before the additions.
