Barcelona star tested in new position in training before Girona | OneFootball

The coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona tested a member of the club’s backline in a new role in training on Friday.

That’s according to journalist Santi Ovalle, who points towards Alejandro Balde as the player in question.

Barcelona are of course in the midst of something of an injury crisis at present.

Ahead of tomorrow’s post-international break return to action against Girona, the Blaugrana are without the likes of Joan García, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

Owing to as much, Hansi Flick has been forced to get creative with his options on the training ground.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, as much gave rise to a head-turning development at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As per a report from Santi Ovalle, speaking to Cadena SER, Alejandro Balde took his place on the left wing during several drills in Catalunya’s capital this morning.

With Raphinha and Ferran Torres both ruled out against Girona, and Lamine Yamal not yet fully fit, full-back Balde, it would appear, is being considered as an option for an attacking role on Saturday.
