Jan Virgili was tipped to be one of the breakout stars of the pre-season for Barcelona this summer. However, the youngster now appears to be on his way out of the club.
After being left behind for the first team’s pre-season tour of Asia, the teenage winger is seeking an exit, with Mallorca emerging as a strong contender to sign him.
Reports suggest that the relationship between the player and Barcelona has deteriorated as the club are disappointed with his reluctance to put time in with the reserve team.
While an exit seems a given at this point, it has now emerged that Virgili previously rejected a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabia to stay at Barcelona.
Indeed, according to Jijantes FC, Virgili rejected a contract offer worth close to €20 million over a four-year period from the Middle East as his dream was to play for Barcelona.

Saudi Arabia have snared away Unai Hernandez from Barcelona previously, while other talents like Pau Prim and Arnau Pradas have left for Qatar and the UAE, respectively.
It seems that they had their sights on a move for Virgili as well, with a lucrative contract offer worth around €5 million per year being tabled for the 19-year-old.
However, the winger, who played a key part in Barça Juvenil A setup’s treble success last season, rejected that because his dream was to play for and succeed with the Blaugrana.
Things seem to have changed now, though, with Virgili now expected to leave the La Liga champions in search of first-team football.
