Barcelona tipped to move for another Araújo | OneFootball

La Liga champions Barcelona have this week been linked with a move for yet another central defender.

The stopper in question? Tomás Araújo.

Barcelona are of course widely expected to bring in a new centre-back with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.

Amid the ongoing struggles of Ronald Araújo, and with Andreas Christensen’s contract terms due to expire, Hansi Flick’s squad looks increasingly short on options at the back.

A whole host of defenders from across the continent have in turn been tipped as potential Blaugrana additions.

And as alluded to above, the latest, late this week, is Benfica standout Tomás Araújo.

Speaking during an interview with market insider Fabrizio Romano (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), agent Ali Barat was drawn on stopper Araújo’s future in his home country of Portugal.

And in his response, Barat highlighted Barcelona as the ideal fit for his client:

“Araújo has qualities that modern coaches look for, as they all play with very high defensive lines, as you know, especially teams like Barcelona. I’m quite sure that many top clubs will come looking for Tomas again in the summer.”
