Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are set to clash in a highly anticipated Champions League showdown on Wednesday evening.
Both sides arrive at this high-profile encounter having kicked off their league campaigns with wins in the opening week.
Under the guidance of Hansi Flick, Barça have made an impressive start to the 2025-26 season, remaining unbeaten in all competitions with seven victories and one draw from eight games. The Catalans currently lead the LaLiga table, edging Real Madrid by a single point.
Barcelona face several injury setbacks ahead of the match, which have complicated Flick’s team selection. Goalkeeper Joan García is sidelined following minor meniscus surgery, expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Raphinha, who has been in fine scoring form with 18 goals this season, will be out for around three weeks due to a hamstring injury, a significant blow.
The long-term absence of Gavi continues, as he recovers from a meniscus injury that is set to keep him off the pitch for five months. Marc-André ter Stegen is still on the road to recovery from back surgery, leaving Wojciech Szczęsny as the preferred goalkeeper. Alejandro Balde was anticipated to return but hasn’t featured in the squad, likely being conserved for this critical European contest.
On the upside, 18-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal has made a full recovery from a groin injury after missing four fixtures. The Ballon d’Or Kopa Trophy winner returned in the recent clash against Real Sociedad and is poised to add vitality to Barcelona’s frontline.
Possible Barcelona Predicted XI: Szczęsny; Koundé, Cubarsi, Araujo, Martín; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Rashford; Torres.
The game will begin at 8pm BST on Wednesday, 1st October.
