Lamine Yamal is fit to play again as the Blaugrana look to extend their winning run

Both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will look to extend their perfect starts to the Champions League on Wednesday as they face off in Spain.

The reigning champions PSG have made a formidable start to the campaign, winning five of their first six Ligue 1 outings and swatting Atalanta aside on matchday one.

And they have done so largely without the newly-crowned Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who picked up a thigh injury on international duty in September.

In further bad news for the Parisians, the Ballon d’Or runner-up Lamine Yamal is back fit and firing for Barcelona. He returned to action after shaking off a groin injury as they beat Real Sociedad 2-1 at the weekend.

After opening their European season with a win away at St James’ Park, courtesy of a brace from Marcus Rashford, the Blaugrana will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Barcelona vs PSG is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The match will take place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, as the Nou Camp remains under construction.

Barcelona vs PSG team news

PSG have been rocked by injuries in the early parts of this season, not that it has affected their results.

Dembele remains sidelined and has been sent to recover in Dubai, while Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are both doubts after being hauled off early against Auxerre at the weekend.

Phenom winger Desire Doue, metronomic midfielder Joao Neves, and club captain Marquinhos are all sidelined, too.

Of the six players listed above, five were ranked in the top 20 at the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Barcelona have had similar fortunes, though Yamal’s return a considerable boost.

Raphinha is a doubt with a hamstring strain, with fellow forward Fermin Lopez also sidelined.

Gavi is out for up to five months after being sent for knee surgery, with La Masia starlet Guille Fernández tipped to take his place. Goalkeepers Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Joan Garcia, and Alejandro Balde complete the injury list.

Marcus Rashford will be expected to return to the left flank in Raphinha’s absence, while Robert Lewandowski will lead the line. The Polish striker has four goals in six La Liga appearances this season.

Barcelona vs PSG prediction

There is very little to separate Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. The Spaniards, who have not lost a competitive match since May, are on remarkable form, but so too are the visitors.

While PSG are, of course, the current European champions, they will struggle to get by without their various Ballon d’Or contenders.

The prospect of a depleted PSG backline and midfield having to contend with a returning Yamal and an on-form Robert Lewandowski should leave the travelling support nervous.
