Barcelona are looking to send promising full-back Hector Fort out on loan this summer to ensure he gets the minutes and experience needed to develop into a first-team regular.
According to reports from MARCA, the club sees Fort as one of its long-term solutions, but the problem is that he plays in one of the most competitive positions in the squad.
Hansi Flick has made Jules Kounde his trusted choice on the right side of defence. Further down the line is a certain Eric Garcia who has won over the manager with his versatility.
Initially, Barcelona had planned for Fort to learn and gain minutes under Kounde’s shadow. However, Eric Garcia’s emergence as a capable option at full-back has limited Fort’s opportunities, forcing the club to reconsider its approach.
The decision from the sporting department is clear that Fort must play regularly to continue progressing, and a loan move is seen as the best way to achieve that.

Barcelona are not interested in selling him under any circumstances, viewing him as a vital part of their future plans.
One potential destination for Fort is Mallorca, where Pablo Maffeo’s expected departure could open up a starting spot.
Mallorca are seen as an ideal place for the young defender to gain top-flight experience and enjoy the kind of regular action he will not find at Camp Nou this season.
Mallorca are reportedly keen on the move, believing Fort could make an immediate impact and contribute to their project. However, the deal is not expected to be finalised overnight. Both clubs need to align a few details before completing the transfer.
The relationship between Barcelona and Mallorca remains strong, as shown by the recent loan of Pablo Torre to the island side, and that cooperation could make a Fort loan deal much smoother, ensuring he gets the platform to grow without cutting ties with Barcelona.
