FC Barcelona announced the squad list for tonight’s match against Real Sociedad a while back, with one big return being confirmed.

Indeed, Lamine Yamal is back in the squad after missing the previous four games due to pubic discomfort. However, in a bit of a surprise, Alejandro Balde did not make the cut.

The 21-year-old left-back was also expected to receive the green light from the medical department for today’s game. However, that has not happened.

Balde to return against PSG

Mundo Deportivo now reports that Alejandro Balde will make his comeback from injury next week when Barcelona take on PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

The La Masia graduate has been out since the onset of the international break after suffering a thigh injury in training.

As a result, he has now missed four matches in a row against Valencia, Newcastle United, Getafe, and Real Oviedo.

Balde, though, resumed training with the group this week and has worked with the rest of the squad on back-to-back days in the lead-up to tonight’s game – which is why the expectation was that he would return along with Lamine.

However, it appears that Barcelona have opted not to take any risks with the left-back, given his history with muscle injuries.

Either way, the expectation is that Balde will be ready and available to face PSG on 1 October at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

As things stand, though, it seems unlikely that he would start the game against the reigning French and European champions, with Gerard Martin expected to continue as the left-back.
