Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler amid uncertainty over Kasper Hjulmand’s long-term position.

The Dane could leave in the summer after a recent dip in form and performances.

With that in mind, Leverkusen are tracking potential options should they decide to change head coach, and Hürzeler is among them.

The club were linked with the former St Pauli coach in 2024 when Xabi Alonso’s future was unclear, but he chose the Premier League.

CEO Fernando Carro has said he wants to win the Bundesliga again in 2028 or 2029, so they will need a coach who can lead the team back to the top. Hürzeler’s stock remains high in Germany, and at 33 he is still regarded as having significant potential.
