As Bayern Munich graced the field in their snazzy new Oktoberfest kit tonight, but not all was harmonious in the ground despite their 4-0 thumping of Werder Bremen.

Fans on the Südkurve unveiled banners against the new light grey kit with black shorts and feint red stripes. Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen addressed the issue after the game.

“We have an open dialogue with the fans. We understand their concerns. Of course, this is a topic we take seriously," Dreesen told SPORT1 at full-time.

"We do have a red and white shirt as our home shirt season, but it's not what the fans would have wanted. We'll see how next season's home shirt will be.

“It's totally okay for the fans to express their discontent and their opinions, that's part of freedom of expression,” the 58-year-old concluded.

Prior to the game, Bayern's hardcore supporters on the Südkurve terrace explained the reasoning for their protest. In short, their points were clear in the opening lines:

"We want a red and white shirt that represents our identity: Mia san Bayern! One that is instantly recognizable: Unique in red and white!

“One that conveys our history, anchored in the hearts and memories of entire generations of fans.

"One that represents our community, as the pillar of our club identity. We want ONE shirt for the coming years and decades”.
