FC Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick as manager at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. One of the first moves the German coach made was to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig on the back of an excellent Euros 2024 campaign.

Olmo’s arrival at Barcelona was marred by registration controversies, which saw him miss the first couple of La Liga games of the season. However, when he finally made his debut, he produced an incredible second-half display against Rayo Vallecano.

Injuries have always been a feature of the Spanish playmaker’s career, and they followed him at Barcelona throughout his first year. When he returned, though, Olmo always picked up from where he left off.

This season has been far more difficult. The Spanish midfielder has struggled to find consistency and form, which has opened the door to speculation about his future. According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing a formal offer worth around €75 million for the 27-year-old.

Bayern have been monitoring Olmo closely. The Bundesliga giants see him as a versatile attacking option who could fill the creative void left by Thomas Müller’s departure and provide additional depth while Jamal Musiala recovers from a long-term injury.

Olmo’s familiarity with German football, from his successful spell at RB Leipzig, would make his transition back to the Bundesliga smoother.

From Barcelona’s perspective, such an offer could be tempting. The Catalan club continues to face financial restrictions and may need to make sales to balance their books. Olmo remains one of the players who could attract a substantial fee, making him a potential candidate for departure if the right offer arrives.

That said, it is highly unlikely that the German giants are making an offer for Olmo, let alone at the price mentioned. Bayern already have Lennart Karl breaking through, whom they rate very highly, and there is no need for them to sign Olmo.

This is not a transfer that is likely to happen at any price, and Barcelona will be hoping Olmo can return to his best sooner rather than later. It would only make them stronger, and we will have to wait and see how things play out.
