Saturday evening's top spiel between Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV was a one-sided affair and required all of 3 minutes for things to burst to life. Michael Olise's tidy backheel pass found Laimer who slipped it inside to Gnabry. The 30-year-old threaded the ball through Muheim's legs before blasting it into the top-left corner.

Ten minutes hadn't elapsed before the Allianz Arena scoreboard displayed 2-0 to the hosts. Alexandar Pavlovic scythed open the HSV rearguard while playing a neat one-two with Harry Kane. The opened up in front of him to leave Daniel Heuer-Fernandes no chance at preventing the red-hot wave of attack.

The Bavarians had further chances to extend their lead - namely through Olise and Díaz - but Heuer-Fernandes kept both at bay. However, a penalty awarded for handball against debutant Aboubaka Soumahoro enabled Kane to tuck Bayern's third of the afternoon home from the spot in style.

Vincent Kompany's side showed no mercy as they bagged a fourth before the 30-minute mark. A quick freekick presented Joshua Kimmich with an easy assist as Luis Díaz's effort deflected off Luka Vuskovic and wrong-footed HSV's Portuguese shot-stopper.

Both sides made a litany of alterations upon the restart of the second-half. Hamburg called upon Daniel Elfadli, Rayan Philippe, and Jonas Meffert, while Bayern replaced Upamecano with Raphaël Guerreiro and switched Stanisic into a central-defensive role and Nicolas Jackson made his debut.

Mikelbrenkis managed to sting the palms of Neuer and Fabio Viera showed glimpses of what he might be capable of against less feaesome opposition, but Bayern and Kane made it 5-0 as he collected Olise's pass and skipped past Vuskovic to bag a brace.

With an eye towards their midweek clash with Chelsea to commence their Champions League odyssey for another year, Kompany called Kane ashore with 25 minutes remaining as Lennart Karl got an opportunity to impress.  A sixth almost came late on as Olise rattled the crossbar and spared HSV further woes.
