Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure is set to have his Newcastle United medical this week and sign a long-term deal, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Newcastle have agreed a €50 million deal for the 20-year-old, who will replace Anthony Gordon.
Toure played at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, featuring in three games. He has been given permission to fly into the United Kingdom for his medical.
Borussia Dortmund were interested in signing Toure, and he also had other suitors in England. However, the attacker preferred Newcastle.
He bagged five goals and 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances last term and will fancy his chances of proving himself in the Premier League.
Toure is a highly creative winger, with high-speed transitions among his major strengths.
He also excels in isolated one-vs-one situations and puts in plenty of quality crosses.
Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa will benefit from Toure’s style of play, and his pace and work rate will benefit Newcastle.
He could become Newcastle’s second signing of the summer after French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen was signed from Stade de Reims on a long-term contract last month.
They are set to lose Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur while Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is keen to join Arsenal. More departures could be on the cards.
