Sheffield Wednesday remain in administration, while the Independent Football Regulator's powers regarding new owners have not yet come into force.
Sheffield Wednesday remain in administration following Dejphon Chansiri's disastrous tenure as owner and chairman of the South Yorkshire club, but the Independent Football Regulator can't help assess prospective owners just yet.
James Bord has been named as Wednesday's preferred bidder as the Championship side look to build for the future.
Meanwhile, the Owls' financial struggles have had a detrimental effect on on-field matters, as Henrik Pedersen's side have won just one league game, and they remain on minus points, thanks to deductions.
The Hillsborough outfit were handed another blow on Wednesday when club legend Barry Bannan joined Millwall, while the London side will hope he can help them land a play-off spot.

Wednesday supporters are desperate for their club's period in administration and their nightmare campaign to come to an end.
Meanwhile, BBC Sheffield's Rob Staton revealed via X that he had contacted the Independent Football Regulator to ask what their current powers were, and how involved they may be in the Owls' pending purchase.
The regulator told Staton: "The IFR can now assess incumbent owners, directors, and new senior executives as well as exercise new investigations, sanctions, and enforcement powers.
"If we have concerns about the suitability of a club's existing owner, director, or senior executive, we can step in and take action where necessary.
"The IFR's powers in relation to new owners, directors, or senior executives will come into force by the end of the current season. Until then, any new owner would be subject to the EFL's fit and proper persons tests.
"We remain in contact with Begbies Traynor and EFL regarding the SWFC administration process."

Wednesday supporters will be pleased by the news that the Independent Football Regulator's powers regarding their takeover process could be implemented before the end of the current Championship campaign.
For now, though, Owls supporters are witnessing their club bid farewell to favourites such as Bannan, while former star players including Josh Windass and Djeidi Gassama departed South Yorkshire last summer.
Meanwhile, Stoke City, Millwall, and Portsmouth are all interested in Svante Ingelsson, increasing the likelihood of yet another exit before the transfer window closes this Monday.
Wednesday have rejected a £300k bid from Millwall for Ingelsson, but their resolve regarding the midfielder's future is set to be heavily tested while they remain in administration.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure for Pedersen's side this season, appearing in 27 of their 28 Championship fixtures, scoring one goal in the process.
Wednesday have targeted a loan move for Manchester City youngster Stephen Mfuni, but most supporters continue to wait anxiously for further takeover developments.
