BEATRIZ ÁLVAREZ has resigned as Liga F president. She has not said whether she will seek a new term.

Liga F said in a statement that on Monday, 30 March 2026 it began the formalities to call a presidential election after receiving the resignation of Beatriz Álvarez Mesa. It added that the process will open in accordance with its electoral regulations.

The organisation issued only a brief note and gave no further details.

The development comes at a time when there could also be elections in the unions, after AFE filed a complaint about the collective agreement.

The ballot will choose the next head of the country’s top women’s football competition.
