Liga F has begun a fresh presidential election process after Beatriz Álvarez Mesa resigned from the role. The league said in a statement that on Monday 30 March 2026 it initiated the steps to call the vote.

In line with its Electoral Regulations, the formal process will now open to choose a new president.

Álvarez did not clarify whether she will stand again.

The development comes at a time when new union elections also appear likely, following AFE’s challenge to the collective agreement.

The ballot will determine the next leader of the country’s top women’s football competition.
