Benfica are close to completing a deal for Corinthians midfielder André for about 15 million euros, although nothing has been announced. Sport TV reports the move is advancing.

The young Brazilian is viewed as one of Corinthians' brightest talents and could now head to Europe. Rádio Craque Neto had previously suggested the player was virtually set to join one of Portugal’s big three.

Milan also tried to sign André, but the move did not progress after the intervention of the Corinthians hierarchy led by president Osmar Stábile.

In Brazil it was said Stábile blocked the exit after consulting Dorival Júnior, then the club’s head coach. Dorival considered André central to the project and persuaded the board to reject the Italian bid.

In the 2026 season for Corinthians, André, valued at 16 million euros, has played 29 times, eight in the Campeonato Paulista, 14 in the Brasileirão, one in the Supercopa do Brasil, one in the Copa do Brasil and five in the Libertadores. He has totalled 2,102 minutes and scored five goals.
